Cork, holm-oak and oak trees are all of the same genus (Quercus) and family (Fagaceae) and are found in mountain areas throughout Spain.
Amber to dark amber in color. Floral aroma with a notable and characteristic malt component (toasted cereal). Intense and moderately persistent. Sweet to the taste with slightly bitter notes.
Rich in antioxidants and minerals. Traditionally consumed during periods of extreme weakness or anaemia.
As with most dark honeys, it combines well with meats, in moderate quantity and added towards the end of the cooking period to preserve its aromas. Also combines well with nuts.
